Google Pagerank – Dead or Alive ?
You are here because you figured Google Pagerank is down and showing NA (not available). I first found this out when my SEO extension for chrome showed 0 (zero) for ewhose.com. I checked a couple other websites and they were all showing up their pageranks. For a moment I was very upset that my website’s pagerank has dropped from 2 to 0, but then I started checking online web tools based websites to confirm it. Some were still showing 2, while most of them were showing either 0 or NA. Later, I checked some other websites, and then got the clue that there’s something wrong.
To clear my doubts, I switched to PaRaMeter by CleverStat.com to check all my websites. It confirmed that Google datacenters were down and were not showing pageranks for any of my websites. On further analysis I found that it’s a global problem, which kind of relieved me.
Some wise people connected Google Pagerank’s downtime as Google Inc.’s tribute to Steve Jobs (would really make Matt Cutts mad). Moreover, there’s also a belief that Google Inc.’s Pagerank algorithm license has expired which led Google Inc. to withdraw Google Pagerank until the license is renewed. However, the reason is something else. I am pretty sure Matt Cutts will soon have a video on this as well.
To continue the discussion, it appears that Google Inc. now has changed the location from where other websites/softwares would gather information to display Google Pagerank. Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer is still working and I tested it several times to confirm that Google Pagerank is not down. Also, I found that prchecker.info has started showing the Google Pagerank as well.
Ultimately, everything is fine except the loss of Steve Jobs, which apparently has no connection with Google Pagerank.
